MY FIRST NOT SO JEWISH SABBATH CELEBRATION

Hello every, thank you for checking out my blog today. I am so excited to be writing today.

Hope you and your family are well? It is summer and June is almost done. I am wishing you all the best the rest of the month and beyond has to offer.

In today's blog; I want to share my experience at my first Sabbath Celebration, a few weeks back.

Prior to attending the Sabbath celebration, I was under the impression that I was going to a Jewish party and we were going to sing Jewish songs, dance to Jewish music and eat Jewish foods. Because I was so excited for the new experience, I spent a few days telling the kids about it and what to expect. While the kids and I were looking forward to a Jewish celebration, our actual experience was nothing Jewish but we still had a great time.

My friend Kesha goes to a church where they have home meetups at certain times in each month and they call it Sabbath Celebration. When she invited us to her home for the Sabbath Celebration, I totally assumed it had something to do with Jewish tradition. When we went, though it wasn't at all what the kids and I had expected, we still had a blast at our not-so-Jewish Sabbath Celebration. Though there were no Jewish foods in sight, my friend made the best Mexican food we could have hoped for. She even made sure there was peanut butter jelly sandwich for Le'Veon. Kesha is a great host and we definitely had a blast. Kesha introduced us to her brother and friends. I'm glad to say we made some new friends on our not-so Jewish Sabbath Celebration.

I enjoy making new friends and eating at their homes. Food is such a great part of my life and I enjoy trying foods from different cultures. I promised Kesha that on her next Sabbath Celebration, I would bring some Jewish foods. She actually invited us this past week but we couldn't make it because we had made other plans. But I still stand by my word that on our next Sabbath Celebration with Kesha and her family, I will bring some Jewish food so we can have somewhat Jewish Sabbath experience.

Here's the link to the video of our experience;

LEVITICUS $5 BOX RESTAURANT REVIEW WITH COACH C|| FOOD REVIEW

Hello everyone, thank you for checking out my blog today. It really means a lot that you are showing some support and interest in the blogs. Today's post is about my kids' coach's restaurant; Leviticus $5 Box located at 222 Upper Riverdale Rd, Jonesboro, GA.

Coach C runs a wonderful order to-go restaurant at a Chevron gas station complex and you MUST try his food.  The kids and I had the privilige to try Coach C's cookign and my God! We were so blown away! His food is the kind you get at a high-end Sports Bar and I'm not kidding. The flavors of his burgers, fries, wings and hot dogs are AMAZING!

I had the opportunity to taste everything on his menu and I was not disappointed.

Watch the video for a more personal experience of our time at the restaurant.

You live in the area and would like to try Coach C's masterpiece? Call him ahead of time 678-420-8684; every item on the menu is $5 before tax. if you purchased a box, taxes are $.40 cents.

I had a great time watching coach navigate his restaurant, masterfully and it was amazing! Here are a few pictures I took of coach creating his masterpiece; please enjoy. I have also included a link to the video review I did.

I know that some of you may be interested in finding out which food was my favorite. Without beating around the bush, everything is amazing but I have to say the veggie burger. I have never tasted a veggie burger before and his didn't disappoint. It was tasty and delicious. I like meat and it didn't feel like I was missing out when I ate the trukey burger.

Jerk Caribbean Wings! MMM

It was like watching art, seeing Coach C in his element at his restaurant.

Coach has mastered the art of multi tasking... He fulfilled customers orders while fulfilling our orders.
Coach C's menu
Coach exudes so much joy while cooking.

The fries were perfect and made just right!

There's something about Coach C's flavors and I think it may have a lot to do with his Afro-Caribbean background and ancestry. You must check him out.

Coach's restaurant has become like a key component of the community and that is awesome!

Thank you Coach C, for the opportunity to review your restaurant and menu.

Six Tips for Making Healthy Meals the Whole Family Can Enjoy|| Marlene

Happy new month everyone. Welcome to Maryamsjoyfullife! It is a beautiful day indeed because I had the inspiration to start collaborating with guest writers. In today's post, we have an amazing guest writer by the name Marlene from hiringhelp.com, sharing some valuable living tips with us. Please enjoy!

Six Tips for Making Healthy Meals the Whole Family Can Enjoy

In the typical American family, either both parents work, or in many families separated by

divorce, single parents are raising the kids. They come home from work and haven’t seen the

kids since early in the morning, and no one has the energy to cook. But eating healthy doesn’t

have to be difficult and it will help you get through the days so you can concentrate on the things

that matter.

picture from eatingwell.com

It’s tempting to hit the drive-thru several times per week, but as part of an overall effort to make

smarter choices regarding your overall well being, eating healthy is important and good eating

habits can be developed without too much effort. Maryam's Joyful Life shares six tips to help

you prepare nutritious meals that everyone will enjoy.

1. Healthy Eating Starts in the Kitchen

The easiest way to ensure that your family eats healthily is by preparing meals yourself. When

you sit down at a restaurant, all you know for sure is that it tastes good. It’s best to eat at home.

One way to overcome some of the drudgery of cooking day after day is to not skimp on

cookware. When you use the best cookware you feel special. And you’ll feel even more special

after dinner because it will be easier to clean.

As you become more experienced preparing meals at home, you may want to consider making

upgrades to your kitchen. A modernized kitchen can be especially attractive to buyers if you

plan on selling your home.

2. Introduce Salads Into Your Meals

A great way to reduce the number of calories your family eats, while adding more nutritional

value and keeping the meal filling, is to include a salad with lunch and dinner. By using healthy

greens, mixed with other veggies, fruits, or nuts, you feel less hungry when you begin the main

course. You can grow your own herbs and lettuces all year round with an indoor garden.

During the warmer months, an outdoor garden can be a constant source of cheap organic

greens. If you don’t want to share with wildlife, consider fencing in your garden for less than

what building raised beds would cost. Average labor costs are $30–$50 per hour according to

Inch Calculator, while wooden fencing is $16 per foot and chain link is $13 per foot. Your plants

will thank you.

3. Skip Out On Red Meats

Not all proteins are equal and some foods are known to put your health at a higher risk than

others. Recent studies cited on Prevention.com have shown that regularly eating red meats can

lead to a higher risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. If you can’t quit red meat

altogether, it’s okay in moderation. Otherwise, try to prepare your meals with chicken or fish, or

with vegetable proteins like peanuts or tofu.

Having an outdoor grill or range is a great option for preparing your meats of choice. You can

even add a range hood, a table, and some seating to make a great spot outside for sharing

meals and entertaining. Things just taste better straight off the grill.

4. Replace Carbs with Veggies

Not all carbohydrates are bad, but some are definitely better for you than others. When you

make pasta or a rice-based dish, you are adding lots of calories. You can give your meals a

healthier base by switching to veggies instead. Vegetables such as squash or zucchini can

serve as a substitute for a wide range of foods, giving meals more nutritional value while also

cutting back on carbohydrates.

5. Make Fruits Your New Treat

After dinner, your family will be pining for something cold and sweet to eat as a treat. Of course,

you can’t have sweet treats without consuming foods laden with calories and sugar, right? Well,

not all desserts come with a high-calorie count. The secret is to stick to fruit.

Smoothies are easy to make and can be made from just a handful of your favorite fruits. Add a

dollop of vanilla yogurt to chopped strawberries and you have an incredible dessert on your

hands. Even eating fruit on its own can make a delicious treat the whole family can enjoy.

6. Drink Plenty of Water

It’s vital to stay properly hydrated to effectively deal with the summer heat, but consuming a lot

of caffeine can make that more difficult for your body. Be mindful of the amount of caffeine you

consume each day. It can show up in surprising sources, such as Sunkist orange soda. If you

notice that you’re becoming dehydrated, try replacing some caffeinated beverages with water.

You don’t have to be a professional chef to prepare incredible meals. You don’t need to be a

health guru to provide your family with food that has high nutritional value. With these tips in

mind, it’s time to get in the kitchen and start cooking.

OUR GREAT WOLF LODGE EXPERIENCE FOR LEVY'S BIRTHDAY

The wolves are ready to go haha

Good morning, wonderful, amazing, sweet and lovely people. It is amazing to be here today. I am excited to share pictures from our Great Wolf Lodge experience.

Our cabin room was spacious and on the first floor.

As you guys may have already seen, we had a blast at Great wolf lodge and even uploaded some amazing content for you all.  I just wanted to put this out there; Great Wolf Lodge is a great place for family. I love the experience and the kids are already talkiing about going back. I will take them back there soon.

Here's Our arrival day at the lodge and cabin tour vlog. Check it out...

I was not in the kids' way at all. I wanted to have fun as much as they did too. So, I let them explore the waterpark on their own and that is why I love Great Wolf  Lodge. Everything is together and in one place for the kids to explore. As a mom, I want to make sure my kids are always safe and I don't have to worry about them wherever we go. Comparing Great Wolf Lodge to Sea World; the differenc is night and day! There's not a lot of walking. It is a closed water park and the kids feel safe and ready to dive deep into their play time.

In this video, we share our buffet experience and it was wonderful. I paid for one and all three of us ate until we were full and we had unlimited return dyuring breakfast. They also had a wide range and varieties of foods att he buffet and EVERYTHING was GOOD!! Our experience was amazing and I highly recommend Great Wolf Lodge!

The water park is spacious and neat for kids
Le'Veon havign a blast in the lazy river

Zozo staning in front of the sprinklers and water pipes

Zoe relaxing and waiting on the waves to come through. The waves in the beach like water, were amazing! Zozo and I enjoyed it.

Mr. Levy took a break from swimming and rolling with the waves to take a picture with us.

This fun dragon is available for anyone to take picture with it.
Breakfast was fresh and delicious
Le'Veon fueled before going crazy in the water park:)
We had one of the staff take our picture during breakfast at the buffet
The kids had a blast and I did too.

This was our last day; we had to get a good swim and enjoy the water park before checking out.

Great Wolf Lodge offers a full day water park expereince for guests after they checkout. I really like their service and highly recommend them.

OUR FIRST EVER ROAD-TRIP

Good morning, wonderful, amazing, sweet and lovely people. I hope this blog meets you well. Thank you for stopping by to read my blog today.

Today is a beautiful day and I'm excited to share this post with you all. I have a question for you. Have you ever been on a road trip with kids? Have you planned and followed through with it? If you have, congratulations. That's a GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT! You should be proud of yourself because I know that I am proud of you.

The first picture is from when we went grocery shopping for our road trip.

We made a quick stop at Waffle House for breakfast, two hours into our trip.

I have been stuck in Georgia for a looonnng time. Well, "stuck," is an over-reaction but I have been in one place for too long. But you know what, you guys? This is the last time I let myself be stuck! For a while, I have been playing with the idea of travelling and seein new places with my children but it seemed like all I was doing was daydream. I often encourage my followers to go after the life they want but it seemed like I was more comfortable telling others to go after their dream, while I was not going after mine. Well, I have decided that I'm going to start living like I encourage others to! So, with all that being said, the kids and I are going on our FIRST EVER out of state roadtrip! What??!!! Guys, I'm screaming right now lol...

Want to know what we are bringing? Please watch this video:

I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Guys, something happened recently that almost made me cancel but I decided I wouldn't cancel for any reason. Well, here we are right now. I am posting this blog right from the heart of our vacation. I'm sitting by the pool; while the kids swim, I'm writing this post and I'm having a BLAST!

Want to know the groceries we are bringing with us? Watch this video:

The journey was smoothe and though we got lost at the wrong hotel, we found our way to the right one.

If you're thinking about taking a trip, quit thinking about it and JUST DO IT!

Just take that trip! Life is in the livingness of it. So, go live it up!

Thank you for reading this.

MY DIVORCE DETAILS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Divorce Divorce Divorce....

It's crazy that I am even talking about this topic right now because I dreaded it but here we go. I reviewed this term called Divorce and what it entails and the mere sound of it brings fear into my heart and this fear is not even reasonable because Divorce is just another way of saying "I'm moving on," or " I recognize God is taking you somewhere better but I don't feel good enough to be by your side and so I giveup what we have together." Society associates it with hardship, depression, failure, shame and difficulty but not me! I describe as opportunity for God to show up and prove society WRONG again!

My take is that Divorce is neither a good thing nor a bad thing but our thinking makes it so. I'm not one to give up on life when something or someone doesnt work out and I say this with the most humility and confidence. As a people living in a society that is often creating laws and naratives of limitations, we are often tempted to predict our future based on limitations and false expectations. I choose to differ. I was Christ's bride before I ever became a wife. My life is not dictated by events that worked out or didnt work out but by what I choose and the story I choose to tell myself.

As the Bible says "All things work together for MY good!" These all things include DIVORCE. G

I don't know who you are reading this but here's what I have to say, "It's all working out in your favor!"

God always has something greater and better for you but you have to want it for yourself. Cry about the breakup and dread facing the future by yourself but don't stay there. Get back up and keep going. Trust God and get better. Go out and exercise. Go out there and say hi to total strangers. I don't mean date people before you are ready but do things that will keep you hopeful about the future because BETTER is coming!

I end this post with this: whether it is a divorce or a loss, it doesnt have to be the end of your life. There's something BETTER around the corner. Reach for it in excitement and it will all make sense eventually.

Don't let anyone steal your joy!

21DAY CHALLENGE TO BETTER HEALTH

Good morning, wonderful, amazing, sweet and lovely people. Hope this meets well. I am happy to be blogging today. Hope you're good and you've got your heart and mind protected from negativity?!

Today is a great day to share my challenge with you, but before we get into it, I wanted to just share an epiphany I just had with you. I just realized that I am prideful and not in a bad way. I want to inspire others to do better for themselves and others but before I can inspire others, I first want to try to be better and do better. I am constantly living by the principle of being the example I want to see and while I know this is not always easy, I still try my best to live by it. I have failed but I get back up and keep trying.

This is the first video of the challenge!

Now, with all that out of the way, I am doing a 21 day health challenge and today is the second day. If you know me, you'll know that I love rice and bread. These two foods are like my love. I eat them at least once everyday. So, as part of this challenge, I will be giving them up for 21 days and also, I will be working on my abdomen. I have not been consistent with my situps and all of that is changing with the challenge. I will be doing at least 100 situps each day for the next 21 days and track my progress.

How does this concern you? You might be asking. Well, here is how it concerns you; I want to inspire you to join the challenge with me. Let's make a decision to start a new trend and a create a new habit which will in turn change our lives. What is it that you want to cut off for the next 21 days? Do it. I am doing it with you. I am cheering you on and wishing you the best as you make progress.

Here's to making progress and looking mighty fine/fabulous!

Don't let anyone steal your joy!

AM I THE ONLY PARENT WHO EXPERIENCES THIS?

Hello my friends. How are you doing today? Happy New Year and Valentine's Day Weekend/SuperBowl Weekend too. It's a lot of festivities this weekend huh? Lol...

Today is a beautiful day and it's night time while I write this post and since it's been a while since my last post, I thought to myself; "why not post a blog tonight?' So, here we go!

The kids and I are in Marriott Marquis Atlanta for the weekend and it's wonderful. The kids were looking foward to swimming and dipping in the hot tub but were a little disappointed when they were told they couldn't swim because of an issue with the pool area and by the time the pool area is fixed, we would've been long home and settled back to our routine lol.. So maybe next time we come back, the pool will be available for the kids.

Inspite of the pool situation, we figured a way to still enjoy our stay; such as ordering room service and touring the hotel. We were also supposed to go out and eat dinner at Benihannah's but didn't do it because it was raining and so could outside. It felt safer and wiser to order room service. The food was delicious too.

Now, here's a question I have; If you are a parent reading this, do you ever get scared and worked up when you're planning a family getaway or vacation? Do you get overwhelmed and almost feel like cancelling the whole trip because of that?

Well, I get that feeling all the time. It's like when it's time to get the kids out  of the house for a getaway, I suddenly get overwhelmed and this got me thinking about other parents who never go anywhere with their kids. I'm starting to believe that many parents choose to stay at home because it's easier and safe. At least while they are at home, they don't have to worry about juggling the kids around, looking for the best palce to eat and other things in between.

If you get overwhelmed and scared the next time you're planning a trip with your kids, here's my advise for you; pray and go anyways. You've got to face your fears and get out eventually. Just take a break from your daily routine and house for a fresh location with your family. It helps renew your energy and opens the door for a fresher perspective for everyone.

Parents, try to relax and breathe. The kids will be fine and you will be too.

I can be uptight when it comes to my kids and their wellbeing but I'm learning to relax more and breathe. With God's help, I have gotten better with being more relaxed and enjoying the moment.

My advise to you, enjoy the moment. Don't allow a moment that should be fun become work and stressful for you. Breathe intentionally and smile.

I hope this cheered you up in some way.

Don't Steal Your Own Joy!
